About Us

Sublette is a typical Midwestern farming village. Its skyline is defined by two church spheres and the silos of the towering grain elevator. Yet, it is unique in many ways. Within ten miles of the village there are over 8,000 campsites located in five separate camping resorts, including Woodhaven Lakes which is the world's largest privately owned camping resort. Shady Oaks Country Club, a sporty eighteen-hole golf course is just northwest of town on Route 52. You'll enjoy our one block business district which has been restored to a 1920's vintage with wrought iron railings and antique streetlights.

On the third Sunday of March each year the village hosts the Sublette Antique Tractor & Toy Show. The show attracts over 7,000 visitors from throughout the Midwest. The show is located throughout the village in five buildings with over 300 tables of toys and over 200 full size antique tractors. Sublette Volunteer Fire Department holds pancake and sausage breakfast the same weekend. On the third Saturday of May and the third Saturday of September a car shows is held in the village. The fall show features Kraiser-Frazer and Willys-Overland automobiles. The first Saturday of September Hops & Harmony Event is held by Sublette 365.

The Second Sunday of September Pullin In The Park, Truck and tractor pull is held In Sublette Centennial Park.

Sublette is also the location of the only reproduction set of Burma Shave signs in the State of Illinois. They were installed by Reminisce Magazine in 1995 after Sublette was the selected site through a contest held by the magazine.
